Created by cartoonist-activist Vishavjit Singh (a.k.a. the real-life “Sikh Captain America”) and director Ryan Westra, the short traces Singh’s zig-zag journey from Washington, DC, to Delhi and back, through the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the shockwaves of 9/11, and the moment he finally straps on the stars and stripes shield to fight hate with humor. The hand-drawn style softens heavy themes without diluting their impact, making the film as classroom-friendly as it is comic-book-cool.
The accolades keep stacking up: a 2025 Webby Award for Best Video & Film - Animation and a Gold Telly Award for Short-Form Animation, landing the film in the same winners’ circle as Pixar.
Pour yourself a cup, press play, and meet the superhero redefining what an American looks like.
